What could be more perfect for a winter’s evening than a delicious tray of pizza rolls whipped up fresh from the oven? Today we bring you this delicious secret- designed by Kgomi of Kgomi’s Kitchen and given a Miami Canner’s twist to perfect it. It’s simple, it’s delectable and the whole family will love it!

Getting down with dough

It wouldn’t be a true pizza roll without a fluffy, oh-so-tempting dough. Kgomi has a super-easy homemade dough we encourage everyone to try. It only takes around 10 minutes to make and 1 hour to rise, has easy-to-find ingredients and will leave you with impressive bragging rights after you’re done. It’s not every day you can flex about your dough-making skills, after all!

If that’s really not for you, most local supermarkets will have pre-made dough for you to grab in the Deli section- but honestly, it will take way less time to make at home then it will to get in the car.

Piquant, perfect pizza rolls

Now it’s time to get down with an Italian vibe. All you’ll need is:

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp crushed garlic
  • 2 cans crushed tomatoes from Miami- we recommend our Italian blend, but your favourite will do nicely too. WATCH OUT FOR A NEW MIAMI PRODUCT IN STORE SOON
  • 1 Tbsp tomato puree
  • 2 Tsp Sugar
  • 1 ½ Tsp oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Heat your olive oil and garlic together over medium heat, until the garlic is fragrant and juicy. Then toss everything else in the pot and stir well. Allow the mix to come to the boil (under a lid) and then drop the heat to a gentle simmer. Pop off the lid, and leave for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Now it’s time to get rolling. Roll out your dough, and brush lightly with a little olive oil to keep things crisp. Fill the dough with pepperoni slice, cheddar, and about ½ – ⅔ the sauce you made. You could swap out the filling for pepper, onion, sausage, wors or anything you feel like.

Roll up your dough, and if you have the time, let it chill for 25 minutes or so. This will make the slicing easier. Preheat your oven, slice up the rolls, toss on the remainder of the sauce and some parmesan, and bake until you have bubbling, crispy goodness.

This fresh new take on an old favourite is the ideal winter warmer, and with Miami products on hand to make it super-easy, why not give it a spin today?
